SOS CV Arusha

 
SOS Arusha became into operation with a total number of ten families each with ten children. Later on in 2012, there was the extension of the village with five houses (homes) in which ten kids are accommodated in each house with a mother as it has been customarily done in relation with SOS Children’s Villages laws and principles.

The SOS Children’s Village constitutes a social network that offers the children scope for contacts within a protected framework.This is a main Facility which is comprised of fifteen houses where each house has a mother with ten children, that is, four male children and six female children per house and vice versa, so as to make a relatively real family which is made up of male and female children. To date the village had 147 children Thus, all these houses do make the village which is overseen by the Village Director who is also considered a father of children in the village.

Youth facility 
This is an apartment which accommodates the relatively grownup children from the village. It is obvious that, children from the Village (CV) do grow from childhood to youth hood, hence, when they reach at that stage; they are moved to youth facility (Youth Hostel) for further upbringing under the leadership of Youth Leaders. The youth facility is divided into boys’ Hostel and Girls’ hostel, each with a Youth Leader. This facility has a total number of 49 youth that involves 24 girls youth, and 25 boys’ youth. Major task for youth that prepare them to join the family after disengagement are, providing the community services, acquired agricultural knowledge through establishment of gardening and participating in different youth forum for sharing experiences. In Education two youth are in universities (USA and South Africa), seven in colleges pursuing different diploma courses in Ghana, eight are in vocational training, one is on teachers training. However, eleven youth who have finished form four this year, nine of them have passed their exams.

Medical Centre Facility
This is SOS facility that takes care of the health services to Children from the village and all SOS workers. Moreover, Medical Centre provides health services to the community that surrounds SOS Children Village. This is due to the fact that, being human being people are prone to diseases, and other related problems which need medication and tender care of medical specialists. 

Schools in Arusha 
The school are comprised of Kindergarten, Primary School, and Secondary School. Thus, kids tend to grow intellectually from the first level, second level, and third level respectively under the guidance of professional teachers. Moreover, they are supported for further studies under extended programme so that, they can achieve excellence for their shinning future and have sustainable independence in their lives. In general, the total number of kids in the school is 491, through which Kindergarten has 90 kids, Primary School is 256 pupils, whereas, Secondary School has 146 students.  Achievements: Good results of National Exams at different levels, that is, class IV, Class VII, Form II, and Form IV whereby for this year out of 36 candidate sited for exams 34 passed the exams with 1 grade I, 7 grade II, 17 Grade III, 9 Grade IV and only two failed.

Family Strengthening Programme 
(FSP) is an outreach program established on 2007 in Arusha, which children are taken care where they are, that is, at their homes in the community. The main aim of this programme is to strengthen families so that, they can be able to support themselves sustainably for the wellbeing of their children. The families are given life skills so that, they can be able to provide vital services to their children which involves education, health, and food among others. The target group are children who are at most risk of losing parental care have access to essential services and that families are empowered to build their capacity to protect and care for their children. Currently programme has 800 beneficiaries and 297 caregivers for the time being.
